In this project we had to find a place in the school and create a haunted scene. In the begining I was going to have my scene set on the football field with scary and ghostly football players but as I got more into the project my ideas changed. I chose the auditorium because I knew no one else would think of the auditorium. I think overall as far as ideas I did well but the lighting in the photo could be better.Tuesday, December 9, 2008
Haunted Chavez
In this project we had to find a place in the school and create a haunted scene. In the begining I was going to have my scene set on the football field with scary and ghostly football players but as I got more into the project my ideas changed. I chose the auditorium because I knew no one else would think of the auditorium. I think overall as far as ideas I did well but the lighting in the photo could be better.
The lyrics i chose for this project are ,Im grindin until Im tired cuz they say you aint grinin til your tired so im grindin with my eyes wide lookin to find a way through the day a light for the night, dear lord you have took so many of my people im just wondering why you havent taken my life, like what the hell am i doing right; by Dwayne Carter also known as lil wayne. I chose these lyrics because sometimes I find myself asking the same question. In my lifetime I have lost people who were very close to me and when it happens you ask yourself this question. Sometimes we loose people who we love and are good people but its apart of life, bad people are not always the first ones to pass away.

The social issue I wanted to touch with this project was gay marriage. In society, people tend to treat people who are gay or homosexual less as they would treat others. Im not homosexual or anything I just feel that people should be accepted no matter what they believe in. Its unfair when people disown or down someone for who they believe they should love. As long as someone is happy it shouldnt be a problem.I took a picture of a happy female couple and my lines were ''and you care because''. The point I was trying to make was that they were happy together minding their own business so why would you want to take that from somebody.

Adjustment layers
In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.Thursday, October 16, 2008

Compositional trick# 4 Extreme angles

In this photograph in order to get an extreme angle I climbed on top of a wall and I had the camera-man tilt the camera to add a little more of an effect on the photo. My favorite thing about this photo is the way my shoes standout. Even though it has nothing to do with compositional trick, it adds a little more to the photo. What i could have donr better was angle it a little different so i capture the sky, it would have added a little more color to the photo.
Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible. One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle.
The self portrait project was one of my favorite projects because we actually had the pictures taken the way we wanted and i was able to express myself a little more. My strongest photo would have to be the extreme angles photo. My weakest photo would have to be the rule of thirds self portrait because i could have did a better job at using the rule of thirds.

Contact Sheet
I think my contact sheet came out good. I did well using macro and catching the texture of the tree. I could have used the rule of the thirds better because the image of the shoes is not really on the thirds. Of all the compositional tricks my favorite one was leading lines. Leading lines is my favorite because I like searching around for leading lines that lead to an emphasis.Compositional Trick #4 CROP
Compositional Trick #3 macro
The macro funtion allows you to take pictures of very small objects and it allows you to create a depth of field within the photo. Depth of field is how far you can see in the photo, a shallow depth of field means you cant view that far into the photo. A deep depth of field means you can see deep into the photo. What I like most about this photo is how great I used the depth of field.Friday, September 5, 2008
compisitional trick #1 Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds is a compisitional trick that you use to position your emphasis outside of the center of your photo. Its basically breaking the picture down into thirds and positioning it where the lines intersect on the thirds. In my photo I could have used the rule of thirds better by positioning the objects a little further up and maybe capturing just one of the shoes.
